"Gwanghwamun Office Worker's Stress Reliever!" Euljiro Old Eatery 'Incheonjib', 50-Year Tradition Pork Belly & Oyster Bossam Honest Review (ft. Waiting, Dubu Maeuntang)

Hello! This is your reliable blog assistant, 'Blog Optimization Top Ranking Strategy Prompt'!

Folks! Folks! 😲 Are you all exhausted from work today? 😫
"What should I eat tonight?" "Is there a restaurant that's a definite stress reliever?" Gwanghwamun, Euljiro office workers, pay attention here! 🚀

A truly authentic old establishment boasting a whopping **50 years of tradition**, known to those in the know! The perfect place to unwind with a shot of soju in a bustling atmosphere after work!
I've brought you an honest review of **'Incheonjib'**'s signature menu, **Jeyuk Gulbossam (Pork Belly & Oyster Bossam)**! 🔥

Located right between Gwanghwamun, Euljiro Ipgu Station, and Jonggak Station! **'Incheonjib'**, a sacred ground for office workers, is situated in the 'Dadong Mugyodong Food Culture Street'. From its 50-year-old signboard, you can already feel the 'aura of a famous restaurant'. The exterior, as if time has stopped, evokes old memories and fills you with anticipation even before opening the door.

I also thought, "I crave something delicious today! I want to relieve stress with hearty meat!" and rushed there right after work. (It's an 'aged kimchi' post from my visit last November, don't tell anyone... 😅) As expected, it's a hot spot! I arrived around **5:45 PM on a weekday evening** and was already **number 1 on the waiting list**! 🤯

**(🚨 Pro Tip:** If there's a waiting list at Incheonjib, **all members of your party must be present to be seated**. If even one or two members of your party are late, your seating may be delayed, so make sure everyone arrives on time together!)

1. Location & Atmosphere: "This is the Authentic Old Eatery Vibe!" (Caution: Noisy 📢)

Incheonjib's location and atmosphere are crucial elements that allow you to fully experience its charm.

  • Location: 36 Dadong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul (Boasts excellent accessibility, a 5-minute walk from Euljiro Ipgu Station/Jonggak Station.)
  • Operating Hours:
    • Mon-Fri: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM (Break time 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM)
    • Sat: 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM (No break time on Saturdays)
    • Closed on Sundays. Checking the day before visiting is essential!
  • Atmosphere: Stepping inside the restaurant on the 2nd floor, you are immediately overwhelmed by the 'authentic old eatery vibe'. The rustic yet charming atmosphere, tables and chairs that show traces of time, and the lively chatter of customers all blend together to create a unique ambiance. It has a distinctive charm that can only be felt in old restaurants.
  • 🚨 Downside: However, that 'authentic old eatery vibe' comes with one significant drawback: it is **very, very, very noisy!** 😭 Tables are literally packed together, and the space isn't large, making it feel almost like you're sharing a table with the party next to you (lol). I strongly recommend against it if you want a quiet conversation or an intimate atmosphere! But for those who think, "This is what an old eatery should be!" it's the perfect lively atmosphere for enjoying drinks! It's an ideal place to de-stress with friends over a drink amidst the bustling energy.

The strong aroma of food and the humble atmosphere that greets you from the entrance of Incheonjib provide a comfort as if you've visited an old relative's home.

2. Menu: From Bossam to Jeon to Stew! A 'Korean Pub' That Has Everything!

Looking at Incheonjib's menu makes your jaw drop. As an old establishment with 50 years of tradition, it offers the epitome of a 'Korean Pub' with everything from main dishes to meals and anju (drinking snacks). The wide variety of choices makes it fun to try new combinations each time you visit.

  • Signature **Jeyuk Gulbossam** (Pork Belly & Oyster Bossam)
  • Various Jeon (Korean pancakes) that pair perfectly with makgeolli (rice wine), such as Hongeo (fermented skate), Guljeon (oyster pancake), Pajeon (green onion pancake), Dubujeon (tofu pancake).
  • Bukeojjim (braised dried pollack), Gyeran Mari (rolled omelet)
  • Meal options include refreshing **Jogae Kalguksu** (clam noodle soup), and the popular lunchtime **Jeyuk Deopbap** (spicy pork over rice).

Our picks were a fantastic combination of Incheonjib's representative dishes!

  • Jeyuk Gulbossam (Large) 60,000 KRW (A special seasonal menu, only available when oysters are in season during winter!)
  • Dubu Maeuntang (Spicy Tofu Stew) 15,000 KRW
  • Jogae Kalguksu (Clam Noodle Soup) 10,000 KRW

We were all set for a hearty meal to blow away our stress!

3. Finally Encountering! 'Jeyuk Gulbossam' Honest Review (Even If You Don't Eat Oysters, It's OK!) 🐷🦪

Finally, the long-awaited **'Jeyuk Gulbossam (Large)'** arrived! The generous visual exceeded all expectations and drew gasps of admiration. 😭 Glossy, thick slices of sujukk (Korean boiled pork belly, domestic pork belly!) were neatly arranged on a plate, accompanied by fresh raw oysters brimming with the vitality of the sea, and spicy, crispy bossam kimchi, creating a beautiful harmony. All of this strongly stimulated our appetites!

  • Sujukk (Boiled Pork Belly): Wow... I usually dislike fat, but Incheonjib's sujukk was truly different. 💖 The ratio of lean meat to fat (pork belly fat) was absolutely perfect. It was tender and soft without being dry, with a chewy texture, and an explosion of savory richness filled my mouth! There was no gamey smell at all, allowing me to fully enjoy the deep taste of the meat itself. It felt like the skilled boiling technique of 50 years of expertise.
  • Bossam Kimchi: It wasn't just sweet like typical bossam kimchi. The seasoning wasn't overpowering, and the refreshing, crisp texture of the cabbage was exactly like **'Kimjang Kimchi'** itself! The moderately spicy and deeply savory flavor maximized the richness of the sujukk, creating a perfect balance. (It's so delicious that 10,000 KRW for an extra serving is well worth it!)
  • Oysters: Unfortunately, I'm still a beginner who hasn't tried oysters... 😅 (I'm still open to the possibility!) But my dining companions raved, **"They were incredibly fresh and plump, with no fishiness at all, and eating them in a 'Samhap' (three-way combination) of sujukk + kimchi + oysters was simply the best!"** (Envious... I'll definitely try next time...!)

After soothing our stomachs with the warm, refreshing kongnamul-guk (bean sprout soup) served as a basic side dish, we started wrapping and eating the sujukk and kimchi without the oysters... and the exclamations of "JMT (absolutely mouthwatering)" came naturally! One wrap, two wraps, and before we knew it, the plate was empty.

4. Side Dishes that Are 'Lead Actors' Too? (Dubu Maeuntang & Jogae Kalguksu) 🍲🍜

It would be a shame to come to Incheonjib and only eat Bossam! Even the side dishes boast the presence of lead actors.

  • Dubu Maeuntang (Spicy Tofu Stew) 15,000 KRW: With large pieces of tofu generously included, I initially thought it was just tofu jjigae. But after tasting the broth, I wondered, "Hmm? It's tofu jjigae, but why does it taste like maeuntang?" The secret was the **plump clams** hidden in the broth! 😲 That must be why it was called Dubu 'Maeuntang'. It's subtly spicy and pungent, and thanks to the clams, the broth is **truly refreshing and clean!** It's excellent for a hangover and an unparalleled 'soju thief' as an accompaniment for drinks. Alternating between bossam and the stew keeps you from getting tired of the flavors.
  • Jogae Kalguksu (Clam Noodle Soup) 10,000 KRW: This is a perfect carbohydrate finish after enjoying the spicy bossam and stew! Thanks to the generous amount of clams, the broth is not just refreshing but boasts a deep savory flavor, and the noodles are plump and chewy, as if hand-pulled. (Some reviews mention that gochujang or similar spicy ingredients are added, adding a pungent kick, but I didn't notice it when I ate!) It was so satisfying that I thought it would be great to come just for this during lunchtime.
  • Kalguksu Kimchi: When you order Jogae Kalguksu, **a separately served 'well-fermented kimchi'** is set on the table. It has a different charm from bossam kimchi, and its crisp, refreshing taste is a perfect match for the kalguksu. Eating noodles with this kimchi is pure happiness.

"A place where you can perfectly blow away the day's accumulated stress with a piece of Bossam and a shot of soju at Incheonjib!"

Although the fatal flaw is that the restaurant is small and noisy, making quiet conversation difficult, the 50-year-old traditional taste of tender pork belly bossam, exquisite bossam kimchi, Dubu Maeuntang perfect for hangovers and drinks, and a clean finishing Jogae Kalguksu! All of these qualities more than compensate for the drawbacks, making it a truly charming old establishment. 👍

If you're looking for an 'authentic' old eatery and pub in Gwanghwamun, Euljiro Ipgu, or Jonggak Station area to heartily relieve your fatigue and stress after work! I strongly recommend **'Incheonjib'**! (A second round is a must... lol)
