Folks! Folks! 🤤 Did you happen to watch <Omniscient Interfering View> (Jeonchamshi) yesterday? That very bread which mukbang YouTuber Tzyang praised as her 'all-time favorite'! 🥐 The moment I saw it, my mouth watered, so I rushed to get it the first thing this morning!
It's Kim Young-mo Confectionery's 'Millefeuille Mocha Roll'. This bread, which clearly shows the touch of a confectionery master with 40 years of tradition, can it truly become 'life-changing bread' as Tzyang said? My honest review after trying it myself + my favorite 'Baguette Sandwich' too! Let's get started right away! 🚀
Yesterday on Jeonchamshi, my jaw dropped watching Tzyang order a whopping 15 types of bread (worth 120,000 won!) for dessert after her tteokbokki and fruit mukbang. 😳 Among them, the bread she reached for first, calling it a "taste of childhood memories," was this very 'Millefeuille Mocha Roll'!
Upon hearing Tzyang's explanation that "a pastry (millefeuille) is inside the roll cake," I instinctively felt 'this must be delicious!' So, this morning, I rushed to Kim Young-mo Confectionery Shinbanpo Branch right at their 8 AM opening time. (My passion for bread...🔥)

The moment I opened the door, the savory and sweet aroma of bread filled the air... Is this heaven? 😇 Although the store wasn't large, it was bustling with customers choosing bread early in the morning. (I saw quite a few people who came after watching Jeonchamshi, like me! 😉) The shopping center parking lot also had plenty of space at that early hour.

Finally, I met it! The bread Tzyang raved about!
- Visual & Packaging: First off, the packaging box itself is luxurious. When you open the box, you'll see a fluffy crumb-like powder on the surface, and a subtle mocha scent wafts out~ Visuals, check! ✨
- Taste & Texture:
- Outside: Moist and soft mocha bread!
- Inside: Thin, crispy millefeuille (pastry) layered between sections of rich and smooth mocha cream!
- Harmony: Moisture from the outside + crispiness from the inside + softness of the cream = diverse textures! 👍
- Sweetness: It's not overly sweet as I expected! The subtle mocha aroma and sophisticated sweetness pair perfectly with coffee. ☕️
- One-liner review: "A moist mocha roll cake embracing a luxurious Nunetine(?)!" I would say. I can see why Tzyang called it a 'taste of childhood memories'; it's not overly stimulating yet keeps you reaching for more. Tzyang, a true food connoisseur, confirmed! 💯
- Price: 31,000 KRW. While it might seem a bit pricey for its size, considering the taste, quality, and packaging, it would make an excellent gift!
3. 🥖 (Full of personal bias) My All-Time Favorite! 'Baguette Sandwich' Review (Price: 10,500 KRW)
Coming to Kim Young-mo Confectionery, I couldn't possibly pass by my favorite menu item, the Baguette Sandwich! (You absolutely must try this too!)
- Features: Inside a truly crusty baguette, you'll find fresh lettuce, ham, cheese, and tomatoes generously filled. (A thoughtful wet wipe is included in the packaging! 👍)
- Taste: First of all, the baguette itself is incredibly delicious! The epitome of crispy outside and chewy inside! The ingredients inside are fresh, so the crisp texture and natural flavors are well preserved. Even without a special sauce, the harmony of ingredients is superb.
- Price: 10,500 KRW. Considering current prices, I think it's a pretty reasonable price! It's a satisfying meal in itself.
Every time I eat this sandwich, I'm reminded that Kim Young-mo Confectionery truly has strong 'fundamentals'. When the bread itself is delicious, everything made with it tastes good.
The 'Millefeuille Mocha Roll' I discovered thanks to Tzyang on Jeonchamshi! Its familiar yet novel taste and texture were truly captivating. I was reminded once again why it's a 'confectionery master's' shop loved for over 40 years. 😊
